I’ve spent the afternoon behind the bar today. I’m reminded of why I love being a “pastorista.” I love hearing the stories, the impromptu conversations, or just learning someone’s name for the first time. I’m reminded than even in the midst of my greatest challenges, my biggest needs, and most significant lack, I’m not alone. Other people are walking out their own stories. It could be worse. It will get better.
Sometimes it’s good to step away from the meetings, the phone calls, the things that make you feel like you’re “all that and a bag of chips” and do something simple. Do something for someone else. It may be as simple as serving someone a cup of coffee. These things make room for perspective and a little perspective can make all the difference in the world.
