Where Are We Now?

A few weeks ago I told you about our plans to relocate in downtown Chattanooga, next door to the new location of Cadence Coffee Company.

We are so excited about having a more permanent presence for RiverChurch in the heart of our city.  Renovations in the new space are almost complete, walls have been painted, floors about to be laid, and just a few finishing touches, and bada bing we’re in.

We’re a little less than half way to our goal of raising our first year’s rent.  We’ve had some generous friends step up and give toward our goal, but we’ve got a little bit further to go.

If you would like to help us put down roots in downtown Chattanooga, just email info@riverchurch.me, and we’ll tell you how you can help.

In the meantime we continue to meet on Saturday nights at the new Cadence Coffee location on East 7th Street.  Currently, we are in a discipleship series called “Journeys.”  Each week we take time to hear from one of our church family members as they tell about their journey of faith, and then we look at foundational elements to the life of a disciple of Jesus.  Our kids have an opportunity to learn those same foundational elements in a kid friendly and fun environment.

Our format has changed somewhat as we relocated from one venue to another.  We’re unable to provide the community meal because of space limitations, but our heart for impacting the community has not lessened.  We continue to build relationships with some of the people in the homeless and urban poor communities of our city.  God has given us a front row seat to see people who have decided to follow Christ over the past 10 months, now grow in a life of discipleship and begin their own journey of faith.

So that’s a little update on where we are now, and where we are going.

One of the core values of RiverChurch is “risk.”  We’re not afraid of the future, instead we run toward it, no matter how unconventional it may seem or how uncharted the waters may be upon which God has called us to sail.
