Guest Blog: Why Lying Is Wrong

I’m excited to welcome a “guest blogger” to Behind/The/Bar today.  I use that term loosely because, well. . . she’s never blogged a day in her life.  But Mady, my daughter, did write a paper recently.  As you read it you will understand the context of her writing.  Let me say at the outset, that I have asked her permission to share this, in fact she said to me, “Dad, this is something everyone should know.”  Without further adieu, I give you Mady on “Why Lying is Wrong.”

Why Lying is Wrong

I have to write this paper because I lied. My brother accidently poked me in the eye so I poked him back because I was mad. My parents asked me why he was crying and I tolled them he did it by him self when I had did it and that was wrong. The bible says that thou shall not lie this is one of the Ten Commandments. There are many scriptures that talk about lying here are a few: Proverbs 12:22 “Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight”.   John 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the begging, and stayed not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. Proverbs 19:9”A false witness will not go unpunished and he who breathes out lies will perish”. Exodus 20:16 “you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor”. The bible says in James 3:8 “but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil full of deadly poison” the tongue can be the most wicked weapon on the earth. So use it wisely to speak your words with caution. As Christians, we shouldn’t fill our lives with deceit. We should always strive to be honest, open lives that are full of truth and love. But since we are all human, sometimes it is hard to avoid lying.                                                                                  White lies and small omissions are still lies. We should always remember that. The option to lie should not be in a Christians life. We should think of the truth first.                                          Now you understand why I regret lying and I am really sorry.

Nuf said ya’ll Tell the truth, its just right.
